Plans, creates, and develop welding techniques, procedures, instructions and sequences. Production support for all quality and cost improvement initiatives controls all welding procedure and performance qualifications. Responsibilities Develops welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering principles:
Conducts research and development investigations to develop and test new fabrication processes and procedures, improve existing or develop new welding equipment, develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures, discover new patterns of welding phenomena, or to correlate and substantiate hypotheses. Establishes welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre- and post-heating requirements which involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, and complex post heating requirements. Evaluates new developments in welding field for possible application to current welding problems or production processes. Oversees and participates in process engineering and/or project management of new and current process, projects, products, programs, components, tools and acceptance in non-welding related areas. Optimize productivity by developing and implementing process improvements. Assists in the development of test procedures and performance of routine to moderately complex engineering evaluation tests, product and process capability studies, quality audits, product or project data reviews, and other engineering evaluation work. Directly supports the factory. Facilitates operator training and qualification. Evaluates opportunities for defect prevention based on standard or accepted solutions. Qualifications Knowledge/
Experience:
Five plus years' experience in a related manufacturing engineering discipline. Experience with GMAW, GTAW, spot, and seam welding is preferred. AWS American Welding Society Certified welding inspector. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Must be able to manage multiple tasks with aggressive deadlines Must be capable of taking a project lead role and comfortable in a fast-moving continuous improvement culture Skills and Abilities:
Strong attention to detail Excellent analytical skills Education:
Bachelors in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field. Emphasis in Welding is preferred.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Industrial EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
